Black Jack!

As I struggled to find something to draw today, I fished through my jacket pocket for a piece of gum. 'Perfect!', I exclaimed as I pulled out my pack of Black Jack. And here it is!

Black Jack tastes like black licorice. I like it cause it's different from what everyone else chews. And I like to be different. I love the retro look of it's labeling too. That's what attracted me to it in the first place. And that's what made me want to draw it for you today.

  1. Gotta say, Black Jack gum is awesome. And so is this drawing! Looks a bit like it could be made of felt in fact...

  2. Thanks! And I thought I was the only one who liked it. I guess it reminds me of my mother. She liked black licorice and always had some in the house. Of course I turned my nose up at it as a child...

  3. I really like your drawing, but I have to say...black licorice gum sounds like the worst thing ever to me. :P Is the gum actually black?

  4. Ha! Thanks Kelley! Yes, I guess it is an acquired taste. My wife doesn't care for it, but I love it. And you know, I never even paid much attention to what colour it is when I unwrap it, but I know it is a dark gray when I am done with a piece! So maybe it is black to begin with. I guess it's mostly the memories associated with the licorice flavour that make me like it.
